AFTER SCHOOL EXTRACURRICULARS FOR WINTER 2023

Our Winter 2023 after school activities will run from the week of January 30 - the week of March 27 or April 3. There will be between 8 and 10 class sessions for each activity, depending on which day of the week it meets.

PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE AT THE LINKS BELOW AND THEN PAY BY CHECK OR CASH THROUGH THE OFFICE BY FRIDAY, JANUARY 27.

Payment should be made out directly to the person teaching the class. See details about payment in each description. The one exception is Martial Arts. Checks should be made to PFGA.

Musical Theater, Choir and Sports will continue to run on their independent schedules throughout the winter and spring.


MONDAY CLASSES

 

LEGO BUILDERS (for 1st and 2nd graders)
TAUGHT BY MARCUS MENENDEZ
3-4:15
$90 for 9 classes in the session
Limit of 15 students

Students will work with Mr. Menendez (son of our very own Tina Menendez) to learn how to brainstorm and plan out small, themed lego projects. There will be different assigned “challenges” each week and students will be asked to think through and plan their project, and then execute the build, choosing colors, sizes, etc. Photos will be posted for parents to see but the legos will stay at school to be used each week. The class will meet in the Library and pick up will be at the front doors of the school. DONATIONS OF LEGOS WILL BE ACCEPTED/WELCOMED!

TUESDAY CLASSES

 

LITTLE NINJAS MARTIAL ARTS (for Kindergarten - 3rd grade students )
TAUGHT BY MASTER JOE STAGEN
3:15-4:15
$125 for 10 classes
No limit on the number of students

This class will be an extension of the first session of Little Ninjas, but will also be open to new K-3rd grade students. It will again be taught by retired CPD officer James Stagen of Stagen's Martial Arts on Irving and Austin. The class will run for 10 weeks in the gym. Returning students should bring their Wolf Pack/Stagen Uniforms to wear over their gym clothes for class. New students will receive a uniform. Students who have outgrown an old Wolf Pack/Stagen uniform will need to purchase a new one for $20.
Payment should be made to PFGA by check or cash.

ARTS AND CRAFTS (for 2nd grade and up)
MRS. WIDLOWSKI
3:15-4:15
$110 for 10 classes, includes all materials

This class will be limited to 15 kids.
Mrs. Widlowski will do a new art or craft project each week, working on creativity, planning, and execution of their projects. All materials are included in the class fee. Payment can be cash or checks made out to Mrs. Widlowski. Sign up and payment for this class is through this paper form, which went home in backpacks this week. HERE IS THE FLYER.

ADVANCED BEGINNER GUITAR (for continuing guitar students)
TAUGHT BY MRS. THYEN
3-4:15
$90 for 9 classes in the session
Limit of 10 students

This class is for any student who has already taken Mrs. Thyen’s Beginner Guitar Class. Students will continue to advance their learning of notes, chords, and finger dexterity, work on tuning a guitar, and the session will culminate with an exhibition for the parents during the final class time.

WEDNESDAY CLASSES

 

MARTIAL ARTS BEGINNER CLASS (for 4th - 8th grade students)

$125 for 10 classes
No limit on the number of students

This class will be specifically for older students, teaching martial arts, self-defense and discipline. It will taught by retired CPD officer James (Master Joe) Stagen of Stagen's Martial Arts on Irving and Austin. The class will run for 10 weeks in the gym. Students will need to wear a Martial Arts Uniform which will be provided for new students. Students will change clothes prior to the class in the gym locker rooms directly after school. Payment should be made out to PFGA by check or cash sent through the office prior to the first class.

PFGA STUDENT CHOIR (Sign up is for 3 NEW students only)
2:15 – 3:20

Choir is FREE for interested Kindergarten - 8th grade students. 
CURRENT CHOIR MEMBERS DO NOT NEED TO SIGN UP AGAIN.

Led by Mrs. Johanna Ortegon, the Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Music Director, with help from her support team, the class will practice after school on Wednesdays. Students will meet in the school lobby and be picked up by a choir director to head over to the church. Students not picked from the church by 3:20 will be taken to the EDP room and signed in. 

The choir will sing for all weekly School Masses (mostly on Wednesdays) as well as once per month at Sunday Family Masses (10 am at St. Pascal Church).
Choir is free for PFGA students and parishioner children.

THURSDAY CLASSES

 

MUSICAL THEATRE
TAUGHT BY THE SULLIVAN THEATRE COMPANY

This course is in full swing and is not taking new students.
Any 7th or 8th grade student interested in helping on the stage crew ONLY during the month of March for free in return for 8 services hours may reach out to Mrs. Thyen for more information.

CLAY PLAY (for Kindergarten - 2nd grade students )
TAUGHT BY KRISTEN YEDLINSKI
3:15-4:15
$100 for 9 classes, includes all materials
Limit of 15 students
Students will be working with modeling clay to create small sculptures based on a weekly theme. They will bring home their creations weekly in a zipper bag. Our focus will be on listening, following instructions, finger and hand dexterity, and having fun! This type of clay does not ever harden.

FRIDAY CLASSES

 

STEM FUN (for 1st-4th grade students)
TAUGHT BY CALLIE HEBERT, 1ST GRADE TEACHER

$88 for 8 classes, includes all materials
Limit of 15 kids
Students will learn various STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Music) concepts through doing simple and fun design/build projects and hands-on experimentation in room 100.

UKULELE WITH MS. BIESCHKE (for 2nd - 8th grade students)
3:15-4:15
$80 for 8 classes
Limit of 6 kids
This class is for any student who is interested in learning to play the ukulele. We have enough ukuleles for 6 students, but if a student has their own ukulele and can bring it, we may be able to enroll more kids. Our focus will be on listening, following instructions, finger and hand dexterity, learning the parts of the ukulele and the string names, learning HOW the the ukulele works, and memorizing 2-3 chords. Some students may walk away playing a 3 chord song at the end of the 8 week session.

YEARBOOK – 3:15 - 4:15
This is for kids from 6th - 8th grade who are INTERESTED and WILLING to put the time and effort in to make a fantastic yearbook! Mr. Argamaso, Mrs. Kells and Mrs. Thyen will work with students to learn the creative and organizational skills necessary to create a beautiful keepsake of the 2022-23 school year memories for all of the Wolf Pack to enjoy. This is a Club that has responsibilities, but will also include lots of fun and skill-building. This CLUB is free for any 6th-8th grade student willing to put in the concentrated effort.
