HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT RESOURCES

The search for your perfect high school begins early. By the fall of the 7th grade year students should already be visiting any high schools in which they may have an interest during their scheduled Open Houses and, if possible, during other admissions events, sporting events, concerts, plays, etc.

You can learn a lot by visiting a high school's website, but to really find out about the character of that high school, you need to get inside and talk to people. Our 8th graders are allotted 2 shadow days that they may arrange directly with the 2 Catholic high schools of their choice in the fall. Please approve your child’s shadow day with Mrs. Teruel.

CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOLs IN CHICAGO

Catholic high schools are faith-based communities grounded in academic excellence. The Archdiocese of Chicago is blessed with 31 excellent Catholic high schools that nurture discipleship in our students, leading them to personal and collective transformation. As a result of the Catholic high school experience, our students…

  • Graduate at a rate of more than 98 percent, with 96 percent of graduates going on to college

  • Earn millions of dollars in college scholarships each year

  • Continue to be committed to helping others through community service

  • Become civically engaged and can be found in leadership positions in business, government and non-profit organizations

These are very formative years in students’ lives and the decision of where they attend high school can have lasting effects on college acceptance, scholarship potential, and their success. Their experiences in high school give them a chance to understand the beliefs, purposes, issues and practices of Catholic faith without prejudice or pre-conceived notions. With a firm sense of their values and faith, students can boldy go out in to a world in need of help and make a difference.

Catholic High School Entrance Exam

The Catholic High School Entrance Exam is typically administered at every Catholic high school within the Archdiocese of Chicago on the first Saturday of December. The 2023 exam will take place on Saturday, December 2. Students may register for the test beginning mid-November. Specific dates for the opening and closing of test registration varies by school (check the school’s website under the admissions pages linked below).

The entrance exam fee has historically been $25 payable either by cash or check on the day of the exam to the school where you are testing. To find a high school where you would like to take the test, visit the Find a School locator on the Archdiocese of Chicago website.
